This workshop-based course provides students with intensive training in consecutive and simultaneous interpreting as well as sight translation. Students will learn courtroom protocols, characteristics of legal language and skills of interpreting in a legal setting. Training will focus on witness examination, counsel speeches, jury instructions and court judgments. Authentic recordings of court proceedings and video-recorded simulated court trials will be utilized as the course material to enhance students’ learning experience.
