Copywriters, editors, and translators working in Hong Kong are often required to handle documents relating to international affairs in such areas as finance, law, shipping, and trade. Apart from introducing the knowledge and skills about the translation of texts relating to international affairs from English into Chinese and vice versa, the course will also cover relevant bilingual drafting and editing skills. Given the special status of Hong Kong as a special administrative region of China and the unique role that it plays in the international community, students will also learn to consider the political and legal connotations of words and expressions in handling the aforesaid documents.
