Translation Technology and Practice in the Posthuman Era (6 credits)
This course provides students with both conceptual foundations and hands-on experience in a range of translation technologies. It covers computer-assisted translation tools (such as translation memory, terminology management, translation project management, and corpus linguistics tools), machine translation (MT), AI-based translation, game localization, as well as computational techniques for text pre-editing and post-editing. Through practical tasks and engagement with research frontiers, students will work with a variety of translation scenarios and learn to critically evaluate how technology and automation shape the role of translators in intercultural communication in the posthuman era. No programming background is required.
